One of the longer and older local distance races, the Spar Channel Race takes the fleet south past Thompson Island, through Spar Channel, and outside Pie Island.

Racers race from Silver Islet, which is located on the 'lake' side of the Sibley Peninsula, to Thunder Bay. Course length is approximately 19 nautical miles.

One of the oldest annual races on Lake Superior, the course has been changed many times over the years. This year's race begins in Thunder Bay, and finishes in Grand Marais, MN.
