Monday Night Women’s Race Series 2009

This series aims to encourage participation and promotes involvement of all women sailors in the area, both recreational and competitive.

·         Boats do not need an all women’s crew to be involved, just a women helmsperson.  Helmswoman is expected to steer the entire race.  Helmsperson can be different every time, the scores are given to the registered boat, not driver.  Boats are encouraged to include women on their crew, as the purpose of this series is to gain exposure and experience among local women interested in sailing.

·         The main objective of this series is participation and fun.  Boats are expected to race at the skill and experience level they are most comfortable with.

·         Racers are not expected to attend every race to become part of the series.

·         Protests are not heard during this series unless the situation results in significant damage or injury.  In the name of fair and honest play all boats are expected to abide by the rules of sailing and exonerate themselves when necessary. 

·         8 races will be held throughout the season.  Every second Monday night pursuit race is a counting women’s race with the first race being held on Monday, June 1.  The boats will count their best 5 races in their overall score even if less than 8 races are sailed.

·         All races with one or more boats starting will be counted.

·         Use regular Monday Pursuit course and start times (refer to the TBYC website for a complete list of individual start times and course details).  Approximate start time is 6:00pm.

·         If weather does not permit, races will not be rescheduled.

·         Race results will be recorded and managed, however, please note your own race standings to prevent possible discrepancies.

·         After every scheduled Women’s race “On Deck” will provide the winning team with a free bottle of wine.
